As if the ticket on a pair of Air Jordans isn’t already high enough, Preston Truman just hit the jackpot.
One game Michael Jordan will always be remembered for is Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals, where despite having the flu, he scored 38 points, willing the Chicago Bulls to a victory over the Utah Jazz. As a result, the shoes he wore during that contest, a pair of black and red Jordan XII’s have been dubbed the ‘Flu Games’.
Truman, who was a ball boy at the time, asked MJ what he planned to do with his shoes after the game. Jordan then offered them to Truman and he’s had them locked away for the past 16 years; until now.
Through an auction, an unidentified buyer made an unprecedented offer of $104,765 for the shoes. As I’m sure anyone would, Truman accepted the offer and has enough money now to buy all the J’s he wants.
“….I just didn’t see the point to something so cool and a part of NBA history sitting at my bank anymore”, Truman stated as his reason for selling them.
